This FAQ section is designed to offer clarity around what it’s like to work together and what you can expect throughout the process. I’ve thoughtfully addressed the most frequently asked questions to help ensure a seamless, considered, and enjoyable experience from start to finish.

  • I am based in Melbourne, Australia.

  • In this season of life with little ones of my own, most of my family sessions take place here in Melbourne, though I do occasionally open up in-home or studio mini sessions when I travel back to New Zealand.

  • Family photography collections begin at $850 AUD and include a personal curated set of edited, high-resolution images. I believe it’s important that you walk away with a refined selection of photographs as part of your base collection, rather than simply paying a sitting fee. Additional collections with more imagery and printed heirlooms are also available à la carte

  • Please reach out via the contact page to enquire with me about available session dates. Bookings are secured by a 50% retainer fee of the base collection.

  • I’m honoured that you’re considering me for your family session. As I also photograph weddings, family bookings are only available up to three months in advance. I often share available dates on social media, and I encourage you to reach out via my contact form to enquire directly.

  • Yes I do offer in studio mini sessions. These are the perfect option if you prefer not to photograph at your home and like a more minimal and classic style to your family photographs. I will announce via my social media or if you want to be added to a waiting list please contact me via the contact page.

  • My family sessions generally last around 1.5 hours. This allows time for introductions, a scout of your home and property, shooting time and accounting for kids being kids.

  • Absolutely, I’ll be in touch in the lead up to discuss the look and feel you’d like to achieve for your session, including guidance on outfit inspiration and how to create imagery that feels cohesive and true to who you are. This is an investment so we want to make the most of the moment.

  • If you need to reschedule your session due to unforeseen circumstances, such as illness, I can generally transfer your retainer fee to a new date. As much notice as possible is appreciated, and please note that retainer fees are non-refundable.

    Mini Sessions, however, are non-transferable and non-refundable

  • Turnaround times typically range from 4 to 6 weeks, depending on whether your shoot falls within the peak summer and autumn season. I believe in taking the necessary time to carefully edit and curate your collection, ensuring every image meets the highest standard when you see them for the first time.

  • Absolutely, I offer collections that include prints, frames and albums, alternatively these are also available for purchase via an online store within your image gallery.

  • Yes, I have equipment, travel and liability insurance for my business.

  • All photographs remain the copyright of Danelle Bohane; however, you are granted a personal-use license, allowing you to share on social media, via email, and to print freely for your own enjoyment. If you prefer your images to remain private please discuss with me in the lead up to the shoot.

  • Editing is an integral part of my creative process, allowing me to craft emotive and timeless imagery. It’s essential that you resonate with the style and mood reflected in my portfolio. I approach post-production with great care and dedication, investing many hours to ensure each image meets this standard. For this reason, I do not provide unedited raw files.
